Tucked between India and China, Bhutan is a land of steep green hills, deep river valleys and snow-capped peaks. Most of the country is forest, so even the capital feels close to nature.
Bhutan is mostly covered in forest, and within its compact landscape, the country is recognized as one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots. Bhutan shelters around 5,603 species of flowering plants, close to 200 species of mammals, and about 678 species of birds, including many that are rare or endangered.
