Story & Significance
Founded in 1652 by Chogyal Minjur Tempa, the first Penlop of Trongsa, this tower was the kingdom’s strategic heart. Rulers who held Trongsa controlled the East-West corridor of Bhutan. Following extensive restoration with Austrian expertise in 2008, it became a cutting-edge museum. This structure remains a powerful symbol of the Wangchuck dynasty’s heritage and their dedication to Bhutan’s sovereignty.
