Story & Significance
In 659 AD, the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo established 108 temples in one day to subdue a massive demoness. Jambay Lhakhang was built to pin her left knee, ensuring the rise of Buddhism. In the 8th century, Guru Rinpoche manifested sacred powers here, creating a spiritual legacy that transformed this site into a lasting pillar of the Nyingma tradition through centuries of change.
