Established in 2011 to celebrate the visionary leadership of the Fourth King and the dedication of Bhutan’s armed forces, the Druk Wangyel Festival is a remarkable modern tribute set against the timeless peaks of the Dochula Pass. Under crystalline winter skies, this unique ceremony mirrors the kingdom’s enduring spirit of peace, blending contemporary heritage with the sacred presence of the 108 chortens.

This 8-day trip balances cultural depth with comfort. You will travel from the capital to Punakha. Then you visit the high valleys of Paro. Experience sacred rituals and a legendary hike. Enjoy a relaxed, winter-focused pace throughout your journey.

KEY CONTEXT

Dochula & 108 Chortens
  • The 108 Memorial Chortens: A rhythmic forest of white stupas dedicated to peace, standing in solemn formation against the sky.

  • Winter Clarity: The sensation of absolute stillness in the sharp, crystalline light of winter, where every prayer flag flutter feels intimately connected to the ridge.

  • Peak Panoramas: Breathtaking views where distant Himalayan summits pierce the horizon, overlooking deep, ancient valleys below.
